Circular Economy Seminar in Rio de Janeiro
event

12 August 2016 11:00 - 15:00

During the Olympic Games the Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro, Firjan and Dutcham organise a seminar on circular economy.

Circular Economy = Topsport

Circular economy is topsport too. A top athlete needs persistence and long term vision to reach the Olympics and win a medal. Circular economy needs the same to start a system change. How can a small country inspire Brazil to go circular?

A basic fundament for the Dutch Consulate-General in Rio de Janeiro is the sharing of knowledge and insights that brings inspiration, implementation and innovations (3 i’s) along. It lies at the basis of how the Netherlands has become not only a Circular Hotspot but also is a "Sustainable Urban Delta" with innovations that can create value all over the world.

Sharing knowledge

Dutch companies, already actively involved in circular economy, will share their best (circular and bio-based) practices and collaborative approach which can be of help to the Brazilian challenges.

The seminar will focus on the basics of CE, the experiences of Dutch Cities and best practices from companies.

After the seminar the conversation will continue around thematic lunch tables and zoom in on:

  • Building with Nature / Ocean-Delta Cleanup / Closing cycles in water management
  • Energy efficiency - new business: light as a service
  • The future of employment in a circular economy
  • Circular cooperation: shared services & sharing resources
  • Green Chemistry / bio based materials
  • Design, creating business through circular design
  • Financing the circular economy
  • Energy Transition - Renewable Energy

Show us your best solutions!

All participants will get an USB with relevant CE material like Dutch best practises, latest insights and trends. Do you have information (in english) available on solutions, fitting within these themes, that can help to address the Brazilian challenges and that can be included on the USB than please contact Freek van Eijk (freek.vaneijk@acceleratio.eu) or Douwe Jan Joustra (djj@ice-amsterdam.nl).
