Ten schools in 's-Hertogenbosch are going to compete against eacho ther in the very first Textiel Race! They are going to ollect as much old textile and clothings as possible. Textile recycler Wolkat gives every collected item a second life through re-using and recyling.
More than half of the textile and clothing in the Netherlands is thrown away the wrong way. It doesn't get recycled or re-used. And the textile and clothing that end up in de textile containers often gets polluded because people also throw for example dirty diapers or dirty textile in the containers. This has to change!
The Textiel Race is a new project from the inventors of the E-waste Race. A simulair project where children collect e-waste. Now we take the spotlight to a new very important subject: textile.
Ten schools are going to compete against each other to collect as many textile and clothing as possible. Before they start the real race, we give them a valuable guest lesson where they learn about the importance of textile recycling. Then we put them to work! The children are going to try to collect as much textile and clothing as they can find.
People who live in the neighbourhood of the school can sign up their textile and clothes on www.textielrace.nl. They can choose a pick up date and time. The children can make an appointment to pick up the clothes. The school who collects the most items wins a school trip to De Ontdekfabriek in Eindhoven. This way we make textile recycling fun, easy and entertaining!
The very first Textiel Race will be in 's-Hertogenbosch! Afvalstoffendienst 's-Hertogenbosch will pick up the textile on the schools and textile recycler Wolkat makes sure that every item gets a second life.
After the first race in 's-Hertogenbosch we already planned Textiel Races in Amsterdam and Noord-Veluwe!
